about

I've never made an electronic song before. One night while I was at work, some electronic music was playing in the background, and I was in just the right mood to think, "You know what. I'm going to make a song like this and see what happens." So I did.

I produced this track using all real instruments. No samples, virtual instruments, or keyboards were used. I began writing the song by creating synth sounds with my electric bass guitar. Then I moved onto drums. I had 4 microphones capturing my bass drum. I ended up only using 2 of them in my final mix. Once I had my main beat and the synth hook, I built the rest of the song around that. My wife played the cello and did the female vocal parts, and I did everything else. Once I had my final arrangement, I was disappointed each time I listened to the song with fresh ears. Something was really missing. To fill in this emptiness, I created the main funky bass riff that comes in during the intro. It was actually one of the last things I recorded. Without it, I can't imagine how my feet would have ever tapped to this song.

The lyrics are inspired by real life stuff. They aren't just pure nonsense. No matter how far out I stretch from the type of music I'm used to doing, I always attempt to keep my songs real and personal. I think that helps the listeners (myself included) appreciate and connect with the song more--knowing the song is actually inspired of something true and meaningful, and not just written for the sole purpose of being catchy.

about

Logan Anderson Colorado Springs, Colorado

I've enjoyed making music since I was 13 years old. It wasn't until late 2013 that I decided to be a bit more persistent, so I released my first album, "Nomad". My favorite part of making music is physically playing and experimenting with different instruments and sounds. I think this aspect helps take my songs in great and unexpected directions. ... more
