about

After writing too many serious emotional songs, I've been eager to come up with something a bit more fresh and fun. I have always written a huge variety of music, but my tendency in the last 3 years has been the more moody, suspenseful, thematic music you hear in my first two albums. I had ton of fun with the change in this song.

The cover art for this track is my son, Leif (6 months old at the time), during our family reunion. It was a Mexican Fiesta-themed day. I had been wearing the sombrero for a while and decided it would look better on him. Originally, I wanted a drawing of a desolate landscape with an indication of a dirty, lone wanderer on a horse. But heck, people need a good chuckle, so I was thrilled to exploit the cuteness of my son instead.

The imagery and subject matter of the lyrics are inspired by a Spanish poem I read several years ago in college. I haven't gone back and read the poem, but the simple memory of the feeling it inspired was enough to help me write the song.

This track went through 3 major transformations. Starting out as a synth-driven trance song, it continued to move in a more funky and acoustic direction. It sounds absolutely nothing like the original. Only a couple instrument parts from the original version remain in this final piece.

I physically tracked everything in this song, not using any samples or drum machines. I find that creating my own sounds and playing everything myself is a lot more fun and helps me experiment with and discover new ideas.

Thanks for listening!

Rider, go on through

Jinete leaving town
Going for a late night moon ride
'cross the barren scape of broken lives
Jinete never sleeps
Jinete never slows down
The wind don't blow this way when he rides,

about

Logan Anderson Colorado Springs, Colorado

I've enjoyed making music since I was 13 years old. It wasn't until late 2013 that I decided to be a bit more persistent, so I released my first album, "Nomad". My favorite part of making music is physically playing and experimenting with different instruments and sounds. I think this aspect helps take my songs in great and unexpected directions. ... more
